Offline
this is a page with outlinks to resources, along with things i use in my life in conjunction with my flip phone. I'm always working on moving away from online pitfalls, and cultivating the life I want. I still have a long way to go I think, but I can't emphasize how much better I feel just from deleting twitter. I'm nearly 30, and I have spent most of my life online. I really believe the constant hunger and loneliness I've felt as long as I remember is due to me running from everything and hiding in the safety of Posting.
I deleted facebook in 2016 or so, deleted twitter in March 2024. I only follow close friends and a few venues & tattoo artists on Instagram, and don't have the app. I'll check it occasionally on my computer, and honestly it always sucks lol. It barely works and I never get anything out of it. Tumblr is something I've had since 2010, and I actually still enjoy it and I think it has value for me. When I'm exhausted or feeling anxious, I still have a strong desire to just Look at Images. To be soothed by the endless tide of beautiful JPEGs and videos of someone repairing a ring or whatever. Sometimes I'll let myself look at pinterest but sometimes I'll write or clean or just stare at the ceiling instead. Anyway, I hope that everyone starts to make this discovery, the lightness of being Offline. Even if you just keep your phone in the car while in the grocery store, these little moments of being disconnected will make you more confident in yourself, and in strangers.
